Top Five Ways to Prevent "Headache" at Home

Headache in simple terms is a pain in the head. It can be throbbing, squeezing, constant, unrelenting or intermittent. Reasons for headache may be many like stress, tension, acidity, hormonal imbalance, gas and PMS. If the person is suffering from headache is unable to do daily activities. Generally, we used to take headache medicine to prevent the headache to run our day to day activities, which is wrong. We have to find the reason, if we are getting headaches again and again. If you are getting headache once in a while is not a big problem. But if the headache is on a regular basis, then it can be due to some severe problem in your system. You need to consult a doctor in that case. To prevent the headache, there are certain remedies which you can do easily at home.

1. Lemon We all have lemons at our home. Lemon is a powerful and effective ingredient to get relief from headache at home. It helps to maintain the acid alkaline in the body. There are two methods of using lemon in headache. First is squeezing the lemon into the glass of water and drinking it. It will give you relief from headache, if it is from the gas. Secondly you can apply the lemon crusts, pounded into the paste on your forehead to get immediate relief from the headache.

2. Hot Water Heat can relax the tense muscles plus alleviating the throbbing pain. You can apply the hot water bag into the back of your neck to get the relief or you can take a hot shower. If you dip your legs in the bucket of hot water for 15 minutes before going to bed. You can get instant relief from the headache.

3. Apple All of us know the old saying about Apple. An apple a day keeps a doctor away. We can use apple or apple cider vinegar to fight off a headache. If you wake up in the morning with a headache, you can eat a piece of apple with the pinch of salt. Then drink some warm water. On the other hand, you can drink a glass of hot water with 3 to 4 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar. Another option is you can add 2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar in to the glass of water. You can add a little honey and lemon juice to it. Drink 2 to 3 times daily to get relief.

4. Peppermint It has calming and soothing properties which help us in headache. There are different methods of using peppermint which are:

i) You can take herbal tea by adding a dried peppermint into the cup of boiling water. You can add some honey to sweeten it.

ii) You can use peppermint oil to gently massage into your temples, jaw and the back of your neck for instant pain relief.

iii) You can inhale the soothing aroma of peppermint stream to ease the headache.

5. Ice Pack Place the cold ice pack on your forehead will numb the pain. It can help you to shrink the blood vessels and improve the blood circulation. You can wrap some ice cubes in a thin towel. Hold it against your forehead for a few minutes. Never apply ice directly on your skin as it can damage your skin. If you are not able to cure your headache by these simple methods. In that case you have to consult a doctor.
