Cholesterol: An important factor to keep your heart healthy

Cholesterol is a fatty substance that occurs in the parts of the human body. Some cholesterol is needed in the human body. If it increased to the certain level, then that substance stick to the arteries. It is called Plaque. Plaque can block your arteries, which can adversely affect your health. If the arterial supply the blood to the muscles of the heart, then you will receive heart attack. If that arterial supply the blood to your brain, then due to blockage a stroke can occur. After the age of 20, one must go for check-up in every five years. A normal cholesterol level should be maintained. Cholesterol level can be checked through a blood test called a lipid profile. Recommended age by doctors are 35 and above for men. For women 45 and above, It must be checked for lipid disorder. To reduce the risk of heart diseases, one must go for a regular cholesterol level check.

There are foods intake one can eat/drink to reduce the risk of bad cholesterol are as follows:

1. Oatmeal

2. Beans

3. Strawberries

4. Green tea

5. Nuts

6. Wine

7. Coca powder

8. Plant Sterols

9. Apples

10. Sunflower oil

Cholesterol can be defined into two types. One is Good Cholesterol, HDL and another is Bad Cholesterol LDL. LDL Cholesterol can build and stick into the walls of arteries, can increase the chance of heart disease. LDL is called bad cholesterol. Lower the LDL, lower the chance of getting a heart attack. If your LDL is 190 and more is considered to be higher. HDL Cholesterol considered to be good Cholesterol. The higher the rate of HDL, Lower the risk. It is helpful to protect our heart.
